CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho reported partially cold mornings with warmer conditions during the day and cloudy afternoons; 21.9mm rainfall was recorded while Bomet received 16mm with Nyamira/Kisii recording 17mm. Temperatures averaged at maximum of 25C and minimum of 9C.  Nandi reported only 5mm of rainfall (weekly total 71.3mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 27C and lows of 9C. In East of the Rift, rainfall of 18mm, 7mm and 6mm was received in Embu, Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga and Areas around the Aberdares respectively with only a few scattered showers in Kiambu while Meru experienced  drier weather conditions.  Temperatures averaged maximum 23C and minimum 14C.

Crop:  low.                                                            

 

TANZANIA:

East Usambara:

Overcast and dry conditions experienced except for a few scattered showers; temperatures averaged maximum of 21C and minimum of 19C.

Crop: declining.

 

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Drier weather conditions prevailed with temperatures averaging maximum 20C and minimum 11C.

Crop: shows a slight increase.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

Increased precipitation received in all tea growing areas recording at 52mm, 34mm, 28mm and 24mm in Fort Portal, Hoima, Kibale and Bushenyi respectively.  Temperatures averaged maximum 27C and minimum 17C.

Crop: show a slight increase.

MALAWI:

Very dry and dusty, hot during the day but sometimes hazy.

Crop: declining.

 

SRI LANKA:

Western and Nuwara Eliya regioins reported bright mornings and wet evenings while both Uva and Udapussellawa regions experienced bright mornings, dull afternoons and rainy evenings. In the Low Growns both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions reported dry mornings with wet evenings.

Crop:  Western and Nuwara Eliya continue to show an increase while maintained in Uva, Udapussellawa and the Low Growns.
