CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA

West of the Rift, Kericho reported cold mornings with warm sunny spells during the day followed by cloudy afternoons and very cold evenings; received only 4mm rainfall in only one day while Bomet recorded 13mm with Nyamira/Kisii recording 20mm. Temperatures averaged 22C maximum and 10C minimum. Nandi reported precipitation of 29mm(weekly total 399.1mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 24C and lows of 11C. In East of the Rift, only 10mm, 9mm, 4mm and 4mm precipitation was reported in Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga, Areas around the Aberdares, Kiambu and Embu/Meru respectively. Temperatures averaged maximum 25C and minimum 15C.

Crop: low.

 

EAST USAMBARA

Cloudy weather conditions with 18mm rainfall recorded. Temperatures averaged maximum 24C and minimum 13C.

Crop:  show improvement

 

WESTERN UGANDA

Bushenyi received precipitation of 30mm with Kibale recording only 5.9mm while Fort Portal and Hoima experienced drier weather conditions.  Temperatures averaged maximum 29C and minimum 18C.

MALAWI

Dry, cold to very cold weather conditions with clear skies at night but getting warmer during the day.

Crop: low.

 

SRI LANKA

Western region reported light showers beginning of the week with dry and misty weather conditions towards the latter part of the week; Maskeliya and Kotagala regions experienced strong windy conditions towards the latter part of the week. Nuwara Eliya region reported bright and dry weather with strong windy conditions towards the latter part of the week while Uva/Udapussellawa region experienced bright and dry weather conditions. In the Low Growns bright and dry weather paired with strong windy conditions were reported in the Ruhuna district while dry weather with occasional showers were reported in the Sabaragamuwa district.

Crop: Maintained in Western, Nuwara Eliya and the Low Growns but declined in the Udapussellawa and Uva region.
