CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA

West of the Rift, Kericho experienced mixed weather with conditions cold and warm in the morning and cloudy afternoons but there was well spread rainfall of  52.2mm in all days of the week. Bomet continued to receive more rainfall recording 122mm with Nyamira/Kisii receiving 29mm. Temperatures averaged 21C maximum and 11C minimum. Nandi recorded more precipitation at 60mm (weekly total 833.3mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 24C and lows of 11C. Useful rainfall reported in East of the Rift, recording 155mm, 115mm, 104mm and 77mm in Embu/Meru, Kiambu, Areas around the Aberdares and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga respectively. Temperatures averaged 24C maximum and 14C minimum.

Crop: low.

 

EAST USAMBARA

Clear weather reported with precipitation of only 17mm recorded; temperatures averaged maximum 29C and minimum 16C.

Crop:  maintained.

 

WESTERN UGANDA

Increased precipitation in tea growing areas of Kibale, Fort Portal, Hoima and Bushenyi was recorded at 137mm, 91mm, 53mm and 50mm respectively.  Temperatures averaged maximum 28C and minimum 17C.

Crop:  maintained.

MALAWI

Partly cloudy, hot to very hot during the day with some showers reported towards the weekend.

Crop: very low.

 

SRI LANKA

Western region reported rainy weather conditions beginning of the week but bright weather with occasional showers in the latter part of the week. Nuwara Eliya region reported overcast weather conditions while Uva/Udapussellawa region experienced bright mornings with rainy evening. In the Low Growns, Sabaragamuwa reported bright weather whereas Ruhuna reported rainy weather at the beginning of the week but bright weather towards the latter part of the week.

Crop: showed an increase in Western region while maintained in Uva region and the Low Growns Ruhuna district but showed a decline in Udapussellawa, Nuwara Eliya and the Low Growns Sabaragumuwa district.
