CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho generally sunny and dry conditions experienced with Bomet reporting reduced rainfall recording 48mm while Kisii/Nyamira received more precipitation recorded at 37mm. Temperatures averaged maximum of 24C and minimum of 10C. Rainfall increased in Nandi to 19mm(weekly total 264.7mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 27.4C and lows of 9.4C. In East of the Rift, continued to report increased precipitation recorded at  76mm, 63mm, 59mm and 34mm in Embu/Meru, Kiambu, Areas around the Aberdares and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga.  Temperatures averaged maximum 23C and minimum 15C.

Crop: about maintained.    

TANZANIA:

East Usambara:

Reported only scattered showers with temperatures averaging maximum of 26C and minimum of 20C.

Crop: maintained.

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Reported more rainfall recorded at 55mm with temperatures averaging maximum of 23C and minimum of 12C.

Crop: improving.

WESTERN UGANDA:

There was more precipitation in all tea growing areas and recorded 39mm, 37mm, 25mm and 8mm in Bushenyi, Fort Portal, Kibale and Hoima respectively. Temperatures averaged maximum 28C and minimum 17C.

Crop: maintained.

SRI LANKA:

Western and Nuwara Eliya regions experienced occasional shower beginning of the week and bright weather during the latter part of the week. Udapussellawa and Uva regions reported bright mornings and wet evenings. In the Low Growns both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions experienced bright mornings with occasional showers.

Crop:  significantly reduced due to labour unrest on regional plantation companies estates.
