CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho experienced cold mornings and partly sunny conditions towards mid-day followed by cloudy afternoons and precipitation was recorded at 2.8mm on only one day. Bomet reported drier weather conditions interspersed with a few scattered showers while Nyamira/Kisii received 10mm rainfall Average temperatures of 22C maximum and 9C minimum experienced.  Rainfall waned in Nandi to 25mm (weekly total 354.4mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 25C and lows of 9C. In East of the Rift, Kiambu, areas around the Aberdare, Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga and Embu/Meru experienced drier weather with the exception of a few scattered showers.  Temperatures averaged maximum 24C and minimum 14C.

TANZANIA:

 

East Usambara:

Similar conditions prevail with overcast weather and precipitation waned to 13.80mm; temperatures averaged at maximum of 23C and minimum of 16C.

Crop: low.

 

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Conditions remain seasonally dry with temperatures averaging at maximum of 19C and minimum of 9C.

Crop: low.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

The tea growing areas of Fort Portal and Bushenyi received reduced precipitation recorded at 47mm and 28mm respectively although increased marginally to 45mm and 25mm in Kibale and Hoima respectively.  Temperatures averaged at maximum 29C and minimum 18C.

Crop: low.

MALAWI:

Dry and dusty, getting hot by the day.

Crop: remains very low.

 

SRI LANKA:

Western region reported heavy rainfall while Nuwara Eliya region continued to experience erratic weather. Uva/Udapussellawa regions reported bright weather and mild winds. In the Low Growns both Sabaragamuwa and Ruhuna regions have experienced dull weather with occasional rainfall.

Crop:  Western, Uva and the Low Growns show a decline but levels are maintained in Nuwara Eliya and Udapussellawa regions.
