CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

                                                                                                               

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho experienced colder mornings with wet afternoons recording 120.7mm while Bomet received 40mm with Kisii/Nyamira reporting 59mm. Temperatures averaged maximum 21C and minimum 13C.   Rainfall increased to 78.9mm(weekly total 1104.5mm) in Nandi with average temperatures at highs of 23.1C and lows of 12C. In East of the Rift, rainfall waned to 21mm, 16mm and 11mm in Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Embu/Meru respectively with temperatures averaging 24C maximum and 14C minimum.

Crop:  maintained.

TANZANIA:

East Usambara:

Minimal precipitation of 6.30mm was recorded with temperatures averaging 26C maximum and 23C minimum.

Crop: declining.

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Rainfall reduced further recording only 4mm with average temperature at highs of 19C and lows of 11C.

Crop:  lower.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

The tea growing areas of Bushenyi, Kibale, Fort Portal and Hoima reported more rainfall recording 62mm, 39mm 35mm and 8mm respectively; average temperatures were at maximum 30C and minimum 18C.

Crop:  maintained.

Cold to very cold nights and early mornings but warm to hot during the day.

Crop: low.

 

SRI LANKA:

Western region experienced dry mornings with wet evenings while Nuwara Eliya region reported strong winds with occasional scattered evening showers. Uva/Udapussellawa regions experienced bright mornings with occasional showers and strong winds. In the Low Growns both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions reported bright mornings with afternoon and evening showers.
