CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA

West of the Rift, Kericho reported generally cloudy and cold mornings with afternoon precipitation of 149.01mm while Bomet received 29mm rainfall with 38mm reported in Nyamira/Kisii. Temperatures averaged 21C maximum and 11C minimum. Nandi reported reduced rainfall at 34mm (weekly total 469.6mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 25C and lows of 10C. East of the Rift, recorded precipitation of 24mm, 22mm, 14mm and 13mm in Kiambu, Areas around the Aberdares, Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga and Embu/Meru respectively. Temperatures averaged 25C maximum and 15C minimum.

Crop: low. 

 

EAST USAMBARA

Colder weather conditions continue to be experienced at night with only a few scattered showers reported; temperatures averaged maximum 29C and minimum 17C.

Crop:  low.

 

WESTERN UGANDA

The tea growing areas of Fort Portal, Bushenyi, Kibale and Hoima reported useful precipitation recorded at 98mm, 60mm, 44mm and 27mm respectively.  Temperatures averaged maximum 29C and minimum 17C.

Crop:  show a slight increase.

Very dry and hot during the day but sometimes windy in the mornings.

Crop: low.

 

SRI LANKA

Western and the Low Grown regions reported rainy weather while Nuwara Eliya and Udapussellawa regions experienced bright mornings with scattered evening showers. Uva region reported bright mornings with evening showers.

Crop: Maintained in Western, Udapussellawas and Nuwara Eliyas while Uvas and Ruhuna regions showed an increase but declined in Sabaragamuwa region.
